Starting is the hardest part, right?
How to get over the hurdle of launching something. A script to ask for testimonials and our first list of three exciting opportunities for you.
I've been wanting to launch this newsletter for IMMA, but to be honest - it's damn hard.
I've spent more time than I'd like to admit learning and researching (shoutout to Liz Wilcox and Helen Perry for their wisdom). 📚
I stumbled upon a quote that said, "If it takes you more than 20 minutes, you're doing it wrong." Oops, guilty as charged! 😅 But, is it really our fault, or is it just the reality of doing something for the first time?
Brené Brown's has a valuable concept: FFT - a Fucking First Time. It's the reminder that we'll inevitably suck when trying something new, but there's light at the end of the tunnel.
As Brené says:
So, here we are, launching the first edition of "Impactful Insights," and I promise I'll get better. I'll put in the hours, learn from the best, but most importantly, I'll write and press send. 💌

Now, let's dive into some valuable stuff for you:
The shortcut
This week, I'm sharing a script to save you time when asking for testimonials.
Feel free to adapt and use it:
Hi [Client's Name],
Hope you're doing well. I loved working with you on [project or task], and I'm currently updating my [website/portfolio/Linkedin profile]. Would you mind sharing a brief quote about your experience working with me?
Something like, "Working with [your name] was a game-changer for my [business/project]. Their expertise and guidance helped me [specific benefit/results], and their [specific trait or skill] was a real asset. I highly recommend [your name] to anyone looking to [goal/need]."
Would that work? If you prefer, feel free to adjust it.
Thank you in advance for your time and feedback.Best, [Your Name]
Interesting opportunities for you
Every week I sift through job boards, Slack channels and Linkedin to find freelance opportunities in the climate and social impact space. This week we have:
1️⃣ Kiva - Public relations & communications expert
2️⃣ WWF UK - RFP to create a competency framework
3️⃣ Open Society Foundations - Graphic Design support
More gigs here.
What's happening at IMMA?
🎬 A sneak peek at what's happening behind the scenes:
Together with Tom, we're exploring the initial MVP version of IMMA to provide personalised and tailored support. That's why we're developing a self-coaching questionnaire, with testing set to begin this week.
Before we introduce 'new features', we want to ensure our current offerings work well for you. Our two monthly events have received an average rating of 4.9 out of 5 🎉 (aside from a few technical hiccups). That's fantastic and we hope to see you at the next event:
🏄♀️ Sense & Respond - Reflect on the past month, set intentions for the next, and share noteworthy signals in the world and market. Friday, April 28th, 5-6pm CET (4-5pm BST)
🫶 Impactful Connections - Network in a structured and introvert-friendly environment, and form meaningful connections with like-minded professionals. (IMMA members only) Tuesday, May 16th, 6-7pm CET (4-5pm BST).
Let's keep learning, trying new things, and normalising the discomfort that comes with growth. 🌱
I will be in your inbox again Friday 5th of May 👋
