Why IMMA Collective exists
What led to build a community of independents that are building their impact-driven businesses together?
Last year, with the help of Mark, Shaleah, Megan, and Matteo, we wrote this manifesto:
Life is too short to spend waiting for the weekend.
Our obsession with endless growth is consuming us and the planet.Enough is enough.
When we define “enough,” we make space for better.
And to get to better, we need together. That’s why IMMA Collective exists.
Solo by choice. United by impact.
Breaking free from the old system
Too many talented people are building someone else’s dream, working for businesses that clash with their values—or worse, harm the planet.
Being in that kind of job is draining. Sure, it pays the bills.
But life is more than just paying the bills.
Once you see what’s happening to our planet, you can’t unsee it.
You feel the urge to do more.
And you know that cutting down on straws or giving up meat isn’t enough.
You want your work to matter.
It’s time to break free.
To stand out instead of fitting in.
So you start a business.
You take back your agency.
Because this isn’t just about profit—it’s about making the change you want to see.
But the world isn’t set up for this.
The advice out there pushes you to build the next unicorn.
But unicorns are overrated.
Chasing endless growth got us into this mess.
If there’s no limit to what we want,
there’s no space to heal the planet—or ourselves.
Define “enough” to build a better future
Enough is where it begins.
It makes space for:
More time outside, reconnecting with nature.
More time with loved ones, strengthening bonds.
More time to learn, unlearn, and redesign how we live and work.
When you claim your independence, you see your interdependence.
Why we created IMMA, a place for IMpact MAkers
Because this journey—though inspiring—can be hard.
And lonely.
Rejections, doubts, and unexpected tax bills can make you feel like a single tree, standing alone in the storm.
But what if we didn’t have to do it alone?
What if, like a forest connected through roots, we shared knowledge, resources, and support?
Together, we can amplify what each of us is capable of.
Together, we have the power to drive real change.
We can make a bigger impact.
We can prove that another world isn’t just possible—it’s within reach.
If this resonates with you, join one of our next events to explore IMMA Collective.
What if finding the right impact-driven project or talent didn’t have to be so hard?
At IMMA Collective, we’re creating tools to help independents (freelancers, solopreneurs, consultants) and impact-driven organisations find their perfect match.
Whether you're looking for meaningful work or hiring talent to make an impact, we’d love to hear from you!
It only takes 5 minutes, and for every completed survey, we’ll donate €2 to Hero Circle App, supporting grassroots mobilisers driving real change. 🌍

Behind the scenes at IMMA
In our upcoming, Impactful Connections event we will explore “How do you bring regenerative practices into your work as a consultant?”. Emily Lin, Nenad Maljković, and Joshua Stehr—will share their insights, followed by breakout sessions on:
Weaving regeneration into systems and organizations.
Making remote collaboration regenerative.
Shifting towards regenerative design.
We recently did a community audit and are kicking off a research project with The University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI) to understand where to focus and how we can improve our community and offerings. More insights and updates coming soon!
We’re also continuing our journey to set up IMMA as a post-growth business with Open Collective and the Post Growth Entrepreneurship incubator. It’s a slow but steady process. If you have tips or advice, please reach out!
Thanks for reading,
Take care,
Lilli
