Going solo means letting go of the stability you once knew. It’s a chance to face the pressure, redefine what work means, and discover what you’re truly capable of, on your own terms.
Excellent article, many of these points feel very familiar! In fact, I'm planning my next Substack article on our perceived loss of Identity when on a career break and how we can reframe it ;)
Brava Lilli! A very good introspective analysis. This is exactly how I feel, in all aspects. In particular, I think of the present chaos: I can't just sit and do nothing, if I stand here, if I do what I do today, is for my kids and the rest of the planet's living beings!! When the moment will come, I know I can tell my children that, at least, I tried. : )
Such a great article Lilli - all those things can hold us back, fear of them. And they're all legitimate ones, but as you say they can be worked through. Most of us need stability so it's a powerful force keeping us doing things that aren't necessary good for us, but they're known. Jumping into the unknown can be terrifying. But with careful planning and preparation it can be exciting, with risks carefully managed - use your corporate training! Thanks for the plug of the book!

Just by naming all this concerns, you make people feel seen and their worries acknowledged. It's powerful in itself.
Thank you for this article!

You nailed it 👌 and it feels good to read the process we sometimes (often) go through in our heads.
Thank you!
